Silver Spur K9 Academy is located in Central Plano, Texas. We are a home-based Board & Train program, which allows us to keep our trainer-to-dog ratio intentionally low and provide a more personalized experience for each dog.

Rather than placing a large number of dogs together in a traditional facility, our dogs become part of a structured home environment where they receive individual attention, training throughout the day, structured routines, enrichment, socialization, and opportunities to practice their skills in everyday situations.

Our low trainee-to-trainer ratio allows us to be intentional with your dog's time and tailor their experience around their individual needs and goals.

Board & Train allows your dog to stay with us while participating in a structured training program throughout their stay.

Your dog's day includes scheduled training sessions, training walks, enrichment, appropriate socialization, rest, meals, potty breaks, and opportunities to practice their skills in real-life environments.

Our goal is to make training part of your dog's everyday routine, rather than limiting it to one short training session each day.

Your dog follows a structured daily routine designed around their individual needs.

Depending on the program and your dog's goals, their day may include:

• Group or solo training walks

• Obedience practice

• Loose-leash walking

• Impulse control

• Crate and place work

• Safe socialization

• Enrichment and nose work

• Structured meals

• Potty breaks

• Rest and downtime

• Real-world exposure and distractions

The goal is to provide a balanced day of training, enrichment, rest, and everyday life.

A low ratio allows us to give each dog more individual attention and be more intentional with their training.

Because we are a home-based program, we are able to incorporate training throughout the day rather than relying solely on scheduled sessions. This gives us more opportunities to observe your dog's behavior, reinforce appropriate choices, and adjust their training based on how they are progressing.

Your dog isn't just another dog in a large group—they are an individual with their own training plan.

Our trainers are educated through Starmark Academy in Texas, and we use a balanced approach to training.

We believe training should be fair, clear, consistent, and appropriate for the individual dog. Our approach may incorporate positive reinforcement, clear boundaries, structure, and appropriate consequences when needed.

We do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. The tools and techniques used during your dog's program are selected based on their temperament, behavior, learning style, and individual goals.

We offer 7-, 14-, 21-, and 30-day Board & Train programs.

The right program isn't determined by length alone. We consider your dog's age, temperament, history, current skills, behavior, your family's lifestyle, and your goals when helping you choose a program.

During your consultation, we'll discuss where your dog is starting and what you'd like to work toward.

Not necessarily—and that's intentional.

While our programs have foundational skills and curriculum, every dog has different needs. One dog may need more focus on leash walking and impulse control, while another may need additional confidence building, socialization, or household manners.

We customize the experience around the dog rather than forcing every dog through the exact same training plan.

Yes. We believe obedience should be useful in everyday life.

Throughout your dog's stay, we incorporate appropriate distractions and different environments when they are ready. This can include training walks, new surroundings, people, dogs, household activity, and other real-world situations.

Our goal is to help your dog practice their skills beyond a controlled training environment.

Depending on your dog's individual needs, temperament, and behavior, they may have opportunities for appropriate and supervised socialization with other dogs.

Socialization does not mean every dog has to play with every dog. We focus on helping dogs learn appropriate social skills, neutrality, boundaries, and how to navigate their environment successfully.

Yes. Our home-based environment is an important part of our Board & Train model.

Dogs have opportunities to practice training around everyday household activity, which allows us to work on skills such as settling, place, crate routines, household manners, impulse control, and appropriate behavior in a home environment.

We can address a variety of training goals and behavioral challenges depending on the individual dog.

These may include jumping, leash pulling, nipping, impulse control, barking, poor manners, recall, confidence, appropriate socialization, and other obedience or household concerns.

During your consultation, we'll discuss your dog's specific challenges and determine whether our program is an appropriate fit.

Your dog's training doesn't end when they leave us.

A successful transition home is an important part of the process. We provide owners with guidance on how to continue practicing the skills introduced during the Board & Train and how to incorporate structure and consistency into everyday life.

We don't just train dogs—we educate their families.
